Product Theft: A manufacturer was made aware that an unauthorized business was selling their product in Tennessee. RMA found that a management-level employee had stolen this product on at least 25 occasions and sold it to a phony distributor. This resulted in losses over $289,000.00 for the manufacturer. Three arrests were made.

Fraud: Waste products were being generated in Arizona and were being disposed of by a service provider in Ohio, resulting in serious overcharges to the client and its predecessors. The waste removal service provider defrauded and gouged the client in the total of approximately $238,000. The individual admitted responsibility, was arrested, and was ordered to pay restitution.   Cost of Investigation:

Employee Misconduct: RMA was hired by the City Manager of a community located in a midwestern state to investigate allegations of personnel and professional misconduct filed against the town's police chief. The investigation was commissioned by the Town Council and used to help guide the process to hire a new police chief after the subject of the investigation resigned during the investigative process.

Embezzlement: A major regional media outlet suspected a recently retired long time employee of theft. RMA was asked by inside counsel to investigate. After determining the extent of the theft, RMA encouraged the retention of outside counsel specializing in handling employee theft insurance matters. The resulting investigation was adopted by the state police and the insurance carrier has agreed to pay the client for documented losses.   Cost of Investigation:

Product Diversion: Risk Management Associates identified the dishonest employees who had been diverting legitimate goods from a distribution warehouse into the “gray market” in New York City for eight years. Total losses exceeded $2 million. Eleven arrests were made and product was recovered in NYC and returned to the client.   Cost of Investigation:

Employee Malfeasance: RMA investigators were hired by the outside counsel representing the interests of a statewide federally sponsored non-profit organization to provide an independent review of alleged misconduct filed against its Executive Director. The evidence collected resulted in the termination for cause of the employee.

Theft: RMA determined that several current and former employees of the client were involved in an organized theft program through a Maryland fence and a Russian receiver involving electronic components. Total losses exceeded $1.8 million. Seven arrests were made.   Cost of Investigation:

Product Theft: Using information gathered from informants, surveillance on the North Carolina plant, undercover intelligence and other investigative sources, RMA agents purchased product from employees and others involved in the theft and diversion of property. Total losses exceeded $100,000. Three arrests were made and a theft ring that had been operating for over two years was stopped.   Cost of Investigation:

Administrative Issues: A State Board of Education hired RMA investigators to conduct two independent investigations regarding allegations of professional misconduct and “testing irregularities” made against school administrators. In one case, an administrator acknowledged the alleged misconduct during the investigation. In the other, the Superintendent was determined by the Board not to have violated any policies.

Theft: Client checks were stolen, forged, and cashed by an unknown person or persons dating back to 1996. The checks, made out to various vendors throughout the United States, were cashed at grocery stores located primarily in the central North Carolina region. One arrest was made.   Cost of Investigation:

Ethics: The General Counsel of an international manufacturing and distribution center contracted with RMA to investigate allegations of fraud and corruption involving the president of the company. After interviewing dozens of employees, vendors, and the suspected executive, RMA was able to provide evidence to the Board of Directors which resulted in the resignation of suspect and the re-organization of the company to gain better internal controls and to demonstrate compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley related matters.   Cost of Investigation:

Workplace Harassment: A State Department of Transportation and the Attorney General's Office contracted with RMA investigators to gather the facts and circumstances surrounding allegations of racial harassment in the workplace. The investigation was used in determining the appropriate administrative action necessary and to defend the State in resulting civil litigation.   Cost of Investigation:

Embezzlement: Risk Management Associates conducted an investigation into embezzlement at the South Carolina office. Total losses were approximately $10,000. During the investigation, the manager admitted to embezzling money and materials from the client through a number of schemes and signed a check to repay the client a sum of $16,000.   Cost of Investigation:

Fraud: RMA investigated a case of possible illegal kickbacks involving a subcontractor to the client in Houston, Texas, and a company in Dallas. The subcontractor subsequently repaid three times the value of the losses as documented by RMA.   Cost of Investigation:

Product Theft: Undercover purchases were made of the stolen product from eBay and from the owner of a business receiving stolen product. An employee was stealing the product provided to the business. Two arrests were made.   Cost of Investigation:

Product Theft : After learning of rumors that weapons manufactured in their facility were possibly being illegally sold in a nearby community, RMA investigators were contracted to assist an international firearms manufacturer in determining the facts. Within the week, RMA had identified the current and ex-employees involved in the diversion and recovered all of the weapons stolen. RMA then coordinated the notification of the state police and federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the thefts, sale and distribution of the weapons.   Cost of Investigation:

Embezzlement: RMA worked with the corporate attorney for an international company based in North Carolina and identified an employee responsible for the theft of over $300,000 using several sophisticated schemes to defraud the client. The investigation led to the arrest of the employee for 32 felonies and a settlement with the client's insurance carrier to reimburse the client for nearly all of the loss and cost of the investigation.   Cost of Investigation:
